Hangtime eBook Jack Thompson
Imagine sparking the ability to speed through time and work miracles. Then imagine figuring out how to do that through the power of math.Hangtime is a short story that tells the story of an ordinary man who figures out the secret of hangtime while watching sports one night.
There are so many things I like about this story. The sweet little romance that developes, despite Laslo's cluelessness in the face of an office crush. The ability to span time, the effect reminding me of Flash Gordon. How Laslo likes watching sports, not because of the game, but because he likes calculating angles and velocities of the players in his head.
I also love how solid a story is packed into this tiny bundle. This is a short story, but it doesn't feel rushed. It feels just right, and it's a complete tale, from start to finish. No cliffhangers, but really an excellent and satisfying conclusion that left me smiling.
I loved this little story and look forward to reading more from this author. I'd recommend this to folks who love a good sci-fi with a nerdy hero. There's a little clean romance and adventure, too. Short and sweet.
I picked this book up on Kindle during a free promotion. I don't always take authors up on their Tweets for freebees, but he was basically putting up a handful at a time, and I couldn't resist.

Hangtime eBook Jack Thompson Reviews
Liked the ending. Would be cool if the author were to expand this one into something larger.
Thanks for writing an interesting story.
Jack Thompson's "Hangtime" was outstanding. The story held my interest, was innovative, and had a surprise ending. I recommend the book.
Well written and delightful sci fi time travel short in the classic sense. Great intro to this author just as it is meant to be. Led me to go on and read the included first chapters of his for sale book and get hooked and buy it. I don't spend my money lightly. But good is good. Just ware the trap.
J T has written an excellent short story about a Doctor who discovers Time Travel for the individual. When the USG gets involved then the NSA gets nasty.....ER
A lot of excitment packed into a short & sweet story. Excellent character development - you really get to know the Doc - and are rooting for him in short order! A unique and fascinating premise - explained in a way that a non-science girl could easily comprehend. Your interest will be held to the last sentence. Really, really good read.
I liked the creative ides presented in this story, but unlike the other reviewers there is no way I would rate this a 5 stars. (I reserve 5 star rating for books that are almost transcendent in their awesomeness.) Despite that I did find this story entertaining.
The good Creative concepts regarding the manipulation of time (and the application of those skills.)
The bad The protagonist learns these skills so easily its seems ridiculous. It just came really easy to him, like he had an idea, practiced for a few weeks and suddenly he can manipulate time. It was just a little too easy and convenient for me.
Otherwise this is a pretty good read, recommended for fans of sci-fi who enjoy stories of time travel/time manipulation.
Doctor Laslo Reingard works in a lab testing vaccines on virus cultures. His job is mundane which allows his brain to explore other scientific possibilities. He surprises himself one evening at home by discovering how he can manipulate time...such as slowing time to allow him to race across a street to pull a mother and child out of the way of a threatening bus. His power is related to what Nikola Tesla experienced in 1895 when he had an incident of possible time travel while in a cafe; but Laslo can manipulate time by stretching it. Unfortunately, when he saves that woman, someone videos the incident which was then televised. The National Security Agency (NSA) wants Laslo taken into custody immediately for the tactical possibilities that could be created for military use. The chase is on and only one co-worker, Marion, is there to help him avoid capture. At this point, this story reminds me of the movies "Blue Thunder" with Roy Scheider and also "The Philadelphia Experiment." Author Jack Thompson has created a similar exciting, fast-paced, hard-to-put-down thriller. You think you know Jack after reading one of his books; but he is much too talented to write in just one genre. I'd like to see more thrillers from Jack, but longer stories to enjoy for hours!
